LIGHTSHARE MOTHERS & INFANTS PROGRAM
LIGHTSHARE + FORTY CARROTS
building strong families out of the ashes of addiction
Faced with the prospect of jail, pregnant, addicted women turn to the Lightshare Mothers and Infants program, a court-ordered, long-term residential program, in which Lightshare counselors lead them out of addiction and through a drug-free birth.
But overcoming their addiction and experiencing a drug-free birth is just the beginning.
Without help, the effects of a mother’s addiction on children can last a lifetime:
- Neglect and abuse
- Developing their own substance abuse problems
- Isolation, depression and guilt
- Developmental problems
- Poor academic performance
Forty Carrots Family Center sends our Parenting Educators to Lightshare to provide the women with the resources to support their journey of parenting. No judgements. Just meeting women where they are, building strong relationships, and giving them the tools they need for their babies and families to thrive. One step at a time.
“Forty Carrots has been an important part of our Mothers and Infants Program for a number of years. Without this program, our moms would be greatly hindered in their journey of motherhood. The challenges that our clients face with their addictions and being new moms is unique and Forty Carrots has been able to provide an extra support system for them. Many of our clients have had self-doubt regarding their skills as parents, but with the tools they receive from Forty Carrots these doubts slowly fade away and turn into confidence and self-assurance that they are able to be great mothers.”
