ANCHORS IN OUR COMMUNITY: FORTY CARROTS EDUCATORS REACH OUT TO FAMILIES THROUGH LOCAL LIBRARIES

Every year, nearly 2,000 families from all walks of life, with children ages 0-5, visit our public libraries to participate in free Partners in Play® programming, an interactive playtime guided by Forty Carrots’ Parenting Educators.

Parents and caregivers are provided with the skills, support and resources to become their child’s first teachers, while building the trust and bonds that are so crucial to their child’s early development. While 88 percent of children attending Partners in Play® do not attend preschool, programming is a vital source of early childhood education in our community.

PARTNERS IN PLAY®:

  • Helps parents develop strong emotional bonds with their children.
  • Guides parents to understand why children behave as they do.
  • Improves parent/caregiver and child communication.
  • Teaches ways to facilitate a child’s play and learning
  • Develops a support network and relieves the sense of isolation that many parents feel.

“Sarasota County Libraries and Forty Carrots Family Center are natural partners in the shared mission of enhancing early learning opportunities for Sarasota County’s youngest residents through its Partners in Play® (PIP) program. These early years consist of many difficult-to-navigate obstacles and remarkable milestones all which can feel simultaneously overwhelming and exhilarating; Parenting Educators provide respite from the storm in the form of comfort, understanding, and support.”

Renee DiPilato
Sarasota’s Director of Libraries and Historical Resources

“It is a tremendous service and an excellent example of investing in the people and providing everyone, regardless of where they may come from, equal access to opportunities to grow and learn.”
